Enlarged Pores

Enlarged pores are a common skin concern that can affect individuals of all skin types. Often found on the nose, cheeks and forehead, they play a vital role in releasing natural oils and sweat but can become more noticeable due to genetics, excess oil production and the skin’s natural ageing process.

What large pores are

Openings that widen with time.

Large pores, or visible openings in the skin, allow natural oils (sebum) and sweat to reach the skin's surface. Pore size is often influenced by genetics, hormonal changes and skin type, with oily skin being particularly prone to larger pores due to excess oil production.

Over time, factors such as sun exposure, the natural ageing process and a reduction in collagen can cause pores to expand, creating a more uneven skin texture. When dead skin cells, oil and debris clog pores, they can appear larger and lead to blackheads or inflamed acne.

Our treatment options aim to reduce pore size, improve skin texture and restore a smooth, refined complexion, addressing not only the appearance of large facial pores but also the underlying causes, promoting long-term skin health.

How we treat large pores

Six options, selected by assessment.

Needle-free

MiraJet

An innovative, needle-free skin rejuvenation technology from Korea designed to refine pores and improve the appearance of scars. Using powerful yet gentle supersonic jet technology, MiraJet delivers customised serums and bioactive substances deep into the skin, promoting collagen regeneration and enhancing skin texture. Ideal for those seeking to minimise enlarged pores and soften acne scars.

Resurfacing

Sciton Erbium laser

By precisely removing damaged skin layers, the laser stimulates natural collagen production and promotes new skin cell turnover. Highly customisable and effective for acne scars, surgical scars and textural irregularities, with controlled precision and minimal downtime.

RF microneedling

Virtue RF / Sylfirm X

Advanced RF microneedling treatments for enlarged pores, scars and overall texture. Virtue RF combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy to stimulate collagen deep within the skin, promoting smoother, firmer, more even-toned skin. Sylfirm X, with dual-wave RF technology, delivers targeted energy to improve scars, minimise pores and address skin laxity and pigmentation.

Skinbooster

JuveLook

An advanced injectable treatment combining polylactic acid (PLA) with hyaluronic acid to revitalise the skin from within. Designed to target enlarged pores, acne scars and uneven texture, it stimulates collagen production, improves elasticity and smooths imperfections over time: natural, gradual results with minimal downtime.

Regenerative

Salmon polynucleotide injections (Rejuran)

A regenerative treatment formulated with salmon-derived polynucleotide, known for its skin-healing properties. By boosting cellular repair and regeneration, it reduces the appearance of scars, minimises pores and enhances skin tone and texture, promoting deep hydration and improving overall skin health.

Toning

DJY Laser Toning

Our toning protocol uses low-energy laser treatments designed to deal with complex pigmentation issues, including melasma. Developed in Korea over a decade ago, it helps with deep pigmentation and also improves overall skin texture, brightness and firmness with minimal downtime, creating Korean glass skin.

“We believe in not only treating visible pores but also addressing the root causes: excess oil production and loss of elasticity.”

Questions

Pores tend to become more visible as we age due to a decrease in collagen and elastin, which support skin firmness. Additionally, overactive sebaceous glands can produce excess oil that stretches pores, making them appear larger. Other factors, such as UV exposure and hormonal changes, can also contribute to enlarged pores.

We use a combination of different treatments to treat large pores. These treatments help to tighten the skin, reduce oil production from sebaceous glands and boost collagen, which collectively refine pores and improve skin texture over time.

While professional treatments provide the most effective results, at-home care can help. Salicylic acid is beneficial for oily skin as it penetrates pores to dissolve excess oil and dead skin cells, helping to keep pores clear. A clay mask can also be used weekly to absorb oil and tighten pores temporarily, giving a smoother appearance.

Yes, our treatments are customised for all skin types, including sensitive skin. Our laser devices and injection treatments are carefully selected to match your skin's needs, ensuring a safe, effective approach to pore reduction without irritation or damage.

For optimal results, we generally recommend treatments every 4 weeks, especially for programmes involving multiple treatments like our toning and skinboosters. Regular sessions help keep pores refined and support long-term skin health. Your dermatologist will tailor a maintenance schedule based on your individual skin type and goals.
