What acne is

Clogged follicles, and what drives them.

Acne is a skin condition that develops when hair follicles become clogged with excess oil (sebum), dead skin cells and bacteria. This can result in blackheads, whiteheads, red spots (papules and pustules), or even large, painful cysts.

While acne often starts during puberty due to hormonal changes, it can persist into adulthood, especially among individuals with oily or acne-prone skin. Hormonal imbalances, environmental triggers and genetic predisposition can all contribute. Increased androgen levels stimulate sebaceous glands, leading to excessive sebum production and blocked pores, which may allow acne-causing bacteria like C. acnes to thrive, causing inflammation.

Whether you are dealing with oily skin, persistent acne or adult acne, our approach focuses on addressing the root causes while improving overall skin health.

How we treat acne

Four routes, matched to severity.

Our Acne Programme is tailored to each patient's skin type and severity of acne. Programmes to address active spots as well as blemishes left behind from active spots are available, and suitability is discussed during the consultation depending on severity and any contraindication.

Medical

Medical treatment

We are led by a leading consultant dermatologist who has trained in the UK, USA and Korea. Under their professional guidance, various medical treatments can be prescribed, including antibiotics, specialist medications, topical treatments, as well as bespoke prescription-strength compounding creams.

Medication-free

Acne Laser Programme

Our laser treatments provide a medication-free solution for treating active acne and rosacea. The programme controls sebum production, eliminates acne-causing bacteria and improves skin texture, combining a 3-step laser process that targets sebum secretion, acne-causing bacteria and oil production in the sebaceous glands. Multiple devices and skinboosters can be combined to treat active acne while also treating brown or red marks left behind.

Acne Skincare Programme

Focuses on comprehensive skin improvement by regulating sebum production, stimulating collagen production for tissue regeneration and addressing the root causes of acne. Two tailored facials are offered: the six-step Dr Jinah Yoo Acne Facial (deep cleansing, skilled manual extraction, plasma, chemical peel, LDM and LED) to reduce active red, inflamed spots, blackheads and whiteheads rapidly; and the Aqua Facial, designed for deep cleansing, exfoliation and hydration.

Diagnostics

Diagnostic testing

Increasing scientific research demonstrates the link between skin, gut, hormones and the immune system in many skin conditions including acne. We provide advanced testing, collaborating with a reputable laboratory based in the U.S.A, to investigate potential causes of resistant acne: gut microbiome stool tests, extensive food allergy testing across 87 allergens, and a one-day hormone test where hormonal changes are monitored throughout a day rather than as a spot test at one point in time.

Yes, our treatments help improve the appearance of acne scarring. By addressing active acne early and stimulating the skin's natural healing process, we aim to minimise the risk of long-term scarring.

Acne affects the skin by causing inflammation, redness and potential scarring if left untreated. We aim to prevent these long-term effects with targeted treatments that promote clear skin and overall skin health.

Our expert-led approach combines advanced devices, personalised facials and tailored care, ensuring highly effective results for each patient's unique skin concerns.

Acne scars can become permanent if left untreated, particularly those caused by severe or inflammatory acne. However, the permanence of scars depends on their type and depth.
