Rashes & Spots

A rash is any area of irritated or swollen skin, often itchy, often painful, and appearing differently on different skin tones. We diagnose and treat a wide range of rashes and spots, with the full range of investigations available when the diagnosis is uncertain.

Our approach

The right diagnosis first.

Our approach starts with a thorough evaluation to ensure an accurate diagnosis, distinguishing between skin conditions with similar presentations: syringomas, Fordyce spots, milia and others. Where a rash is more challenging or uncertain, further investigation may be needed, and we provide a full range of investigations to support diagnosis and management.

“It keeps coming back and nobody can tell me why.”

Recurrent rashes usually mean the diagnosis is incomplete. A full range of investigations is available here to establish what is actually driving it.

Recurrent or unexplained
“It's itchy and painful and nothing settles it.”

Rashes are often itchy and painful, and appear differently on different skin tones. Treatment is chosen to control the cause, not only the symptom.

Itching & discomfort
“I've been given creams that don't work.”

Your plan may include topical or oral medication, or a combination with procedures: laser, peels, LED, injectables, supplements or skincare.

Failed treatment
“Are these spots or something else?”

Small bumps are frequently misidentified. Our evaluation separates syringomas from Fordyce spots, milia and similar presentations before treatment.

What we treat

Four conditions.

Eczema

Eczema treatment

Eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis, is a chronic skin condition in which patients experience inflammation and intense itching. It often appears as dry, red and scaly patches on the skin.

Psoriasis

Psoriasis treatment

A chronic autoimmune disease affecting the skin, leading to rapid skin cell turnover and a build-up of thick, scaly patches that vary in severity and location. Commonly red, raised and covered with silvery scales, usually with itching and pain.

Urticaria

Urticaria treatment

Urticaria, or hives, shows up as itchy, raised bumps or welts on the skin, often triggered by allergic reactions to foods, medications or environmental factors. Hives can appear out of nowhere, usually with redness and sometimes swelling.

Pigmentation

Age spots & freckles

Pigmentation concerns caused by overactive melanocyte cells in response to sun exposure. Freckles typically appear as small, light brown spots and are more common in younger individuals; age spots develop over time and are often larger and darker.

Anything else

Any skin rash

We offer consultation and treatment for any skin rash. Where the presentation is uncertain, further investigation is arranged before a plan is set.

“Two rashes can look identical and need opposite treatments. That is why the investigation comes before the prescription, not after it fails.”
